#Reflect31 - Day 27

You can't do sketches enough. Sketch everything and keep your curiosity fresh.

-John Singer Sargent

It’s been a good first week of school in the Grundler house albeit a long one. I can’t say it’s been an easy road taking on this reflection challenge and blogging every day of August (one of the busiest months of the year) but it’s been so worth it. In fact I’m not much of a writer, never have been. I was the kid that shied away from any type of writing, as a dyslexic I I didn’t have the confidence needed to put myself out there in words. But I could sketch and I saw images in my head that explained my thinking. Additionally, the more I drew the easier it flowed and made sense.

Writing everyday has had a similar effect in that now I’m exploring another form of expression. A mode of expression that isn’t in my traditional wheelhouse. I wonder if we challenged kids to get outside their comfort zone and explore a variety of ways to creatively express their learning, what would occur?

Observe the world you live in and express yourself daily. Find new creative outlets and reflect on how you plan to maintain curiosity and an exploration of learning amongst your students (and yourself).

Share with us as you find new ways of expression.

Happy Weekend,

Laura and Matt
